A scarce First World War period Canadian Expeditionary Force 'Cameron Highlanders of Canada 43rd Overseas Battalion sweetheart brooch'; Crowned wreath half thistle half maple leaf with superimposed 'Cross of St. Andrew' bearing a lion and "43 Battn. CEF Winnipeg" below with title circlet in blue enamel; the reverse impressed with maker's details "R.C" (Robert Chandler) and Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1915. Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, enamel perfect and complete with all of its gilded finish, to give the appearance of gold.
