Royal Navy or Merchant Navy Sentimental 1921 Hallmarked Silver Naval Anchor Brooch Labelled 'Mother'.

A very unusual circa 1921 period large hollow silver naval fouled anchor brooch, bearing a heavy gold plated ribbon scroll titled "Mother", the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1921 and maker's details "GAR" (possibly George Alfred Retchford, Birmingham). Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings no dents or distortions, an excellent example.

Accompanying this brooch is a retailers' display card with floral decoration stating "Gold Mounted" "All Marked". Personally written in blue ink to the reverse: "To mum with love from Bert xxxx 1924". This now creased and with age wear.
