Royal Navy Ship HMS Cochrane 1914 silver picture brooch
A superb and rare First World War Royal Navy Ship 'HMS Cochrane silver sweetheart brooch', hand painted enamel picture of the ship set on a stylish a bar, the reverse bearing Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1914 and maker's details "F.H.M" (Frank H Mannox, Birmingham). Very good condition, original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel, some very minor surface scratches.

HMS Cochrane was a Royal Navy Duke of Edinburgh-class armoured cruiser, built by Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, Govan Scotland, launched on 28th May 1905, she served in the 2nd Cruiser Squadron during the First World War taking part in the Battle of Jutland, she became stranded in the River Mersey, Liverpool on 14 November 1918 and broke in two, the wreck was finally broken up for scrap in 1919.
