A rare Royal Navy Ship 'HMS Dreadnought sweetheart brooch', circular silver disc with raised letters, etched fern leaf symbol of New Zealand, Union flag and rose, an applied fretted outline of the battleship across the centre with shaking hands below, the reverse bearing Chester silver hallmarks for 1908 and maker's details "W.Bs" (Ward Brothers Birmingham). Good condition, original pin fitting, old replacement hook soldered on upside down, minor kink at 9 o'clock.

HMS Dreadnought was a Royal Navy battleship built at the HM Dockyard, Portsmouth, launched in February 1906 she revolutionised naval power with her marked advance in naval technology to such a great degree that her name came to be associated with an entire generation of battleships the "dreadnoughts" a class of ships named after her.
