West Riding Regiment 1899 hallmarked silver regimental sweetheart brooch

A rare Boer War period 'Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment) regimental sweetheart brooch'; hollow silver horseshoe impressed 'So. Africa 1900.' with applied badge to the centre, displaying the Crest of the Duke of Wellington above a strap inscribed with Latin motto 'Virtutis Fortuna Comes', central elephant with howdah on 'Hindoostan' tablet, the reverse bearing Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1899 and maker's details "MB". Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, no dents or distortions and complete with all bauble decoration.
