Essex Regiment 15ct gold and enamel sweetheart brooch

A First World War period 'Essex Regiment gold sweetheart brooch' of the finest quality, made in three parts with applied enamel scroll, the reverse impressd "15ct" (15 carat gold) and maker's details "PPLd" (Payton, Pepper & Sons Ltd, Birmingham). Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings incorporating safety catch, accommodation ring to attach a chain and undamaged enamel, an excellent example.
