Royal Air Force gilt and enamel lucky horseshoe RAF sweetheart brooch

A good original Second World War period 'Royal Air Force sweetheart brooch', a gilt and enamel RAF crest surmounted by a King's Crown, carrying the motto "Per Ardua ad Astra" (Through Adversity to the Stars), and seated within a small gilt horseshoe. Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, no enamel damege.
Height 24mm.
