A scarce '1st West Yorkshire Regiment silver prize spoon', the rifle shank with target between the butts, supporting a regimental badge bearing title scroll "1st West Yorkshire" below with "Ca Ira" (The West Yorkshire Regiment March) scroll above, the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1928 and maker's details "F&S" (Fattorini & Sons Ltd.). Very good condition.
Length 117mm.

The 'West Yorkshire Regiment (14th of Foot) took its regimental march “Ca Ira” (a French revolutionary song) from its French adversaries at the 'Battle of Famars in Flanders 1793.
