A scarce First World War period Canadian Expeditionary Force '1st Pioneer Battalion CEF sweetheart brooch' highly enamelled gilt maple leaf with Crowned "Overseas" scroll above a superimposed beaver over pick and shovel with scroll below "1st Canadian Pioneers". Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, enamel intact minor manufacturers infill flaw, gilt remains bright, an excellent example.
