A rare original First World War period 'Royal Naval Air Service sweetheart brooch', large eagle surmounted by a Naval Crown and 'RNAS' title scroll below, the reverse bearing Birmingham silver hallmarks, and maker's details "G.L" (G Loveridge & Co Birmingham). Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings.

The Royal Naval Air Service 'RNAS' was the air arm of the Royal Navy during the First World War, it merged with the Royal Flying Corps on 1 April 1918 to form the Royal Air Force.
