A splendid rare pre 1931 '8th Gurkha Rifles regimental brooch', finely made platinum fronted crossed kukris with black enamel handles, an "8" resting between the blades; set with thirty eight diamonds and mounted on a very long slender bar, the reverse impressed "15c" (15 carat gold) and "Plat" (platinum). Excellent condition, retaining original pin fittings incorporating a safety catch, ring to accommodate a safety chain. Complete with all stones. An exceptionally rare eye catching brooch.

Originally raised in 1824 as part of the East India Company (HEIC). It served with distinction throughout the 19th century, WW1 and WW2. After India gained independence in 1947, the regiment transferred from the Crown to the new Indian Army as the '8th Gorkha Rifles' and continues its fine record of service to the present day.
