WW1 Royal Artillery Hand Painted Enamel Shield Sweetheart Brooch.

A scarce and very unusual pattern First World War period 'Royal Artillery sweetheart brooch' in the form of a gilt shield surmounted by foreign style crown, the face inlaid with white enamel with hand painted badge bearing crowned 'Ubique' scroll, 'Royal Artillery' gun in coloured enamels. Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, the base of the pin shank reinforced with lead soldier, tiny hairline crack under top crown otherwise the enamel is perfect.
