WW2 South African Air Force SAAF Gilt & Enamel Sweetheart Brooch by Stratton's England.

A scarce Second World War period gilt and enamel 'South African Air Force' sweetheart brooch, fashioned on the style of the cap badge, but with Latin motto "Per Aspera Ad Astra" (Through hardships to the stars) scroll; the reverse with unusual maker's details "Stratton's" "England" partially concealed by hook. Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, no damage or stress to the enamel, gilt remains fresh.
