A rare original First World War circa 1918 transitional period large gold 'Royal Air Force sweetheart brooch'; 'RAF' monogram within laurel wreath surmounted by a King's Crown, retaining the very stylized arched wings of the 'Royal Flying Corps', the reverse with tablet impressed "9c" (9 carat gold). Pristine condition, complete with original pin fittings and ring to accommodate a safety chain.
