A superb quality, petite Second World War period gold and enamel 'Royal Air Force sweetheart brooch'; polished 'RAF' monogram, within a green enamel laurel wreath, surmounted by a King's Crown in red; flanked by small finely feathered wings, the reverse impressed "9ct" (9 carat gold)and with maker's details "P.PLd" (Payton, Pepper & Sons Ltd, Birmingham). Excellent condition, retaining original pin fittings, complete with gold plated safety chain, perfect enamel.
