Boer War Australian Federation Flag, 1900 Chester Hallmarked Gold & Enamel Patriotic Sword Brooch by Hollis & Newman, Birmingham.

A very rare Boer War period fine quality 'Australian Federation Flag patriotic gold and enamel brooch'; in the form of a 'New South Wales Ensign' inlaid with superb coloured enamels, mounted on a hollow gold sword, the reverse impressed with Chester 9 carat gold hallmarks for 1900, maker's details "H&N" (Hollis & Newman, Birmingham) and "Rd. 352373" a registered design and patent date of 1900. Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, perfect enamel, minor dimple near point end of sword, otherwise a perfect example.

Contained in a velvet lined fitted leather case, with details to the inside lid "By Appointment" "Carrington & Co Ltd. 130, Regent Street,W.". This with minor staines and age wear .
