1916 Machine Gun Guards Sweetheart Brooch.

A rare original short-lived 'Machine Gun Guards brass and enamel sweetheart brooch'; brass five pointed star each point being a bullet, alternating between each, a grenade, rose, thistle, shamrock and leek representative of the five 'Regiments of Foot Guards', with the centre bearing a Crowned 'GMG' cypher within a circlet inlaid with blue enamel and inscribed "Quinque Juncta In Uno 1916". Very good condition, retaining original hook catch, old replacement pin shank, enamel perfect.
