WW1 Australian Flying Corps Gilt & Enamel Pilot's Wing AFC Sweetheart Brooch, PIN FITTINGS REMOVED.

An extremely rare original First World War 'Australian Flying Corps sweetheart brooch'; gilded brass Crowned 'AFC' monogram within a laurel wreath flanked by large finely feathered wings, the reverse with evidence of having had a pin shank and hook, but for some unseemly reason these having been removed many years ago, otherwise I would have classed this in very good condition.

This is the first part of a large collection of First World War period, rare and wonderful sweetheart brooches, all in superb condition but with their pin fittings removed. These came attached on what could possibly be classed as a retailer's sample display board.
