A scarce and impressive Elizabeth II period fine quality 'Royal Hospital Chelsea brooch'; cast in silver from a large cap badge, heavily gold plated and finely enamelled, the Order of the Garter bearing the motto "Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense" (evil to him who evil thinks) surmounted by a Queen's Crown the central device depicting a rose and thistle with tri-part title scroll below; the reverse impressed with Birmingham "Anchor" and "925" (Silver) with maker's details "EF" in a shield. Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings incorporating safety roller catch in perfect working order, enamel perfect, an excellent example.
