EIIR Royal Leicestershire Regiment 1984 Hallmarked Gold & Enamel Sweetheart Brooch, Tiepin by Garrard & Co, London.
A superb quality Elizabeth II period very scarce 'Royal Leicestershire Regiment gold and enamel brooch', designed on the style of the cap badge depicting the Royal Tiger with 'Hindoostan' scroll above and 'Royal Leicestershire' scroll below and mounted on a slender bar; the reverse impressed with Birmingham 9 carat gold hallmarks for 1984 and maker's details 'G&Co Ld' (Garrard & Co, London) the Crown Jewellers. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings incorporating safety roller catch in good working order, enamel perfect, an excellent example, highly recommended.

In November 1946 'The Leicestershire Regiment' was granted the 'Royal' title to become the 'Royal Leicestershire Regiment'. The 1958 changes put the Regiment into the Midland Brigade, subsequently re-designated the Forester Brigade. In 1962 the Brigade was dispersed and 'Royal Leicesters went to become the fourth battalion in the 'East Anglian Brigade'.
