A fine quality scarce gold plated 'British Empire brooch' designed by Norman Grant, the reverse bearing London silver hallmarks for 1989, maker's details "BEC" (British Empire Collection) and embossed "For God And The Empire". Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings incorporating safety roller catch in good working order, no damage to the enamel minor surface scatches, ring attachment to accommodate a safety chain or wear as a pendant.
Height 37mm.

The 'Order of the British Empire' was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V, the 'British Empire Brooch' can be worn by women who are themselves holder of the Order of the British Empire and by wives and loved ones who have associations with a holder of the OBE.
