A scarce First World War period Canadian Expeditionary Force '2nd Pioneer Battalion CEF sweetheart brooch' gilded copper maple leaf with Crowned "Overseas" scroll over crossed axes and grenade within title scrolls with motto below "Viam Paramus" (We prepare the way). Good condition, evidence of having had loops and converted to pin fittings, gilt finish with service wear.
