A superb rare original Great War period 'Royal Flying Corps sweetheart brooch'; fine quality example the laurel wreath enhanced by green enamelling, the Crown and cental 'RFC' device with red translucent enamel and flanked by finely feathered large wings, the reverse impressed '15ct' (15 carat gold). Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, an excellent example.
Width 55mm.
The 'Royal Flying Corps' and the 'Royal Naval Air Service' merged on 1 April 1918 to form the 'Royal Air Force'.
