An extremely rare 'Submarine S-Class.I hollow silver anchor sweetheart brooch'; the reverse bearing Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1914 and maker's details "F.H.M" (Frank H Mannox Birmingham). Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, no dent or distortions, an excellent example, together with a period cardboard box, the lid stamped "By Appointment To The Admirality And The War Office".

The 'Royal Navy Submarine Service' S-Class submarines of 1914 were built by Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Company Limited, Greenock, Scotland just before World War I. It was based on an Italian design of the 'Laurenti Boats'. Only three vessels were constructed and they were transferred to the Italian Navy in 1915.
