WW2 Combined Operations Badge Silver & Enamel Regimental Bar Brooch.
A scarce original Second World War period 'Combined Operations brooch', displaying an anchor, submachine gun and eagle representing the three service arms of the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force; mounted on a rounded hollow bar, the reverse impressed "silver". Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings, enamel perfect.

Formed in 1940 by Churchill. Its first chief was Admiral Sir Roger Keyes (his son of VC fame); succeeded after 15 months by Louis Mountbatten. It numbered many successful Commando raids among its numerous operations. The famous badge was designed in 1942 by Lieutenant D.A. Grant RNVR.
