Coldstream Guards silver regimental brooch

A fine quality pre 1924 period 'Coldstream Guards sweetheart brooch' in the form of an unmarked silver officer's 'Service Dress' three-part cap badge; comprising a faceted Garter Star mounted with pierced Garter bearing the motto 'Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense' on a blue enamel ground, the central Cross of St. George inlaid with red translucent enamel; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J&Co' (Jennens & Co Birmingham). Very good condition, complete with pin fittings and safety chain.

The military badge maker 'Jennens & Co Birmingham' was bought by J.R.Gaunt' in 1924, and for a short time after was known as 'J.R.Gaumt Late Jennens'.
