Royal Navy HMS Kestrel 1915 silver torpedo pin badge
A scarce original Great War period 'H.M.S. Kestrel sweetheart brooch', in the form of a hollow silver torpedo with cut out letters title scroll, the reverse impressed with Chester silver hallmarks for 1915 and maker's details 'F.H.M' ((Frank H Mannox Birmingham.). Very good condition, complete with original pin fitting, professionally replaced hook.

HMS Kestrel was a C-class torpedo boat destroyer. launched in 1898. With the outbreak of hostilities in August 1914 she was assigned to the Nore Local Flotilla, her duties included anti-submarine and counter mining patrols in the Thames Estuary. She was sold on 17 March 1921 to Thos W Ward of Sheffield for breaking at Rainham, Kent on the Thames Estuary.
