5th Bn Durham Light Infantry 1912 hallmarked silver regimental spoon

A very scarce original '5th Battalion Durham Light Infantry silver 1913 prize spoon', the finial depicting a Crowned title strap, strung bugle to centre with engraved '5th' within the cords and superimposed over crossed rifles; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1912 and maker's details 'V&S' (Vaughton & Sons Birmingham). Very good condition.
Length approx 124mm.

The 5th Battalion Durham Light Infantry was formed in 1908, it was a Territorial Force battalion with headquarters in Stockton.
