Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service silver WRCNS brooch by Birks Ellis

A rare original circa 1942 to 1946 period fine quality 'Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service badge' in the form of a silver gilt fouled anchor mounted with 'Naval Crown', on the topmost ring sits a 'Jenny Wren' and to the base a 'WRCNS' scroll inlaid with blue enamel; the reverse impressed 'Sterling' and with maker's details 'Birks Ellis'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, enamel perfect.
Height 33mm.

Henry Birk & Son took over the 'P. W. Ellis & Co.' business in Toronto in 1928, thus forming the Birks-Ellis trade mark.
