A scarce original Great War period 'H.M.S.Assistance badge, in the form of a hollow silver anchor with applied gold plated curved title scroll the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1917 and maker's details 'F.H.M' (Frank Henry Mannox). Excellent condition, complete with original pin fittings, no dents or distortions.
Length 40mm.

HMS Assistance served with the Grand Fleet at Scapa and Cromarty throughout the war. 'Vice-Admiral Harry Mervyn Kemmis Betty' commanded the repair ship from January 1913 to April 1919.
