WW2 Royal Navy Ship HMS Bellona silver pin bar badge
A scarce original Second World War period 'HMS Bellona silver and enamel pin bar badge', displaying a representation of the the ship's crest viz. Naval Crowned rope edge circlet, the centre depicting the trophies of war on turquoise blue enamel ground, with motto below 'Battle is our Business', mounted on a slender flat bar, very typical of the period, the reverse impressed 'Silver'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel.

HMS Bellona was the name ship of her sub-class of light cruisers for the Royal Navy, entering service in 1943, the cruiser operated during World War II as an escort for the Arctic convoys, and as a jamming ship to prevent the use of radio-controlled bombs and in support of the Omaha Beach landings. In 1946 the cruiser was loaned to the Royal New Zealand Navy, returning to the Royal Navy in 1956 and scrapped in circa 1959.
