WW1 Royal Naval Air Service officers style 15ct gold RNAS sweetheart brooch

A very rare superb example of a First World War period 'Royal Naval Air Service gold brooch or tiepin badge'; designed on the style of the officers bullion cap badge worn between 1914 and 1918 and mounted on a slender bar, the reverse impressed '15ct' (15 carat gold). Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, housed in a velvet lined fitted leather case, inscribed 'By Appointment Mappin & Webb Ltd. Regent Street , London,W.'
