A rare and impressive 1955 Elizabeth II period 'Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Observer Wing gold brooch'; superior quality jewellers handcrafted example in the form of oval rope edge central device, bearing fouled anchor to voided centre, mounted with a Queen Elizabeth Crown enhanced with red enamelling and flanked by large finely feathered wings; the reverse impressed with Birmingham 9 carat gold hallmarks for 1955, maker's details 'J.W.B' (J W Benson Ltd). Excellent condition, complete with original pin fittings incorporating safety roller catch in good working order, enamel perfect and housed in retailers 'Gieves 27 Old Bond Street, London W1' presentation case in good clean condition, minor blemish to the lid.
