3rd Carabiniers (Prince of Wales's Dragoon Guards) regimental brooch 1922–1971

A very scarce original circa 1940's period fine quality jeweller made '3rd Carabiniers (Prince of Wales's Dragoon Guards) gold and enamel pin brooch' with applied plumes, coronet, motto scrolls 'Ich Dien' (I Serve) over crossed carbine rifles, with title scroll below inlaid with blue enamel; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'J.W.B' (J.W. Benson London bought out by Mappin & Webb in circa 1980s ) and 9 carat gold hallmarks. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, roller catch in good working order, no damage to the enamel scrolls.
Height approx 26mm.
In 1971 the regiment amalgamated with the Royal Scots Greys (2nd Dragoons), forming the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.
