Royal Flying Corps 15ct gold and enamel pilot wing RFC sweetheart brooch

A rare original First World War period superb quality 'Royal Flying Corps solid backed pin badge'; Crowned wreath, the centre with embossed blue enamel RFC crest, flanked by large finely feathered wings, the reverse impressed '15ct' (15 carat gold pre 1931) and 'LONDON MADE'. Excellent condition, complete with original pin fittings with safety catch, no defects to the enamel. Width approx 52mm.
The 'Royal Flying Corps' and the 'Royal Naval Air Service' merged on 1 April 1918 to form the 'Royal Air Force'.
