1914 Bear The Flag Aloft England Scotland & Ireland Patriotic Hm Silver Brooch

A rare First World War 1914 period very fine quality 'Patriotic Flag pin badge' displaying the Union Flag, with representation flags of St George's Cross, St Andrew's Cross and St Patrick's Cross that comprise the National Flag all in red, white translucent and blue enamels, the Crowned blue title circlet bearing the legend 'BEAR THE FLAG ALOFT' the central cross bearing the Latin mottos 'REX' 'PAX' 'LEX' and 'LUX for 'KING' 'PEACE' 'LAW' and 'LIGHT'; the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1914 and maker's details 'J.F' (James Fenton & Co, Birmingham) 'T.K & Co' 'Registration Applied For'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no stress marks or defects to the enamel.
