WW1 Royal Flying Corps pilot's wing gold RFC sweetheart brooch
A scarce original First World War period 'Royal Flying Corps gold sweetheart brooch or tiepin'; small crowned blue enamel oval bearing the letters 'RFC' flanked by white enamal arched wings with 'Per Ardua Ad Astra' (Through Adversity to the Stars) motto scroll below and mounted on a slender bar with an attached safety chain. Good condition, complete with original pin fittings, minor enamel loss on and below crown. housed in a velvet lined fitted leather case, this a little shabby.
