HMS PROTECT ME 1915 Hollow Silver Anchor Brooch
A rare original First World War period 'H.M.S. Protect Me pin badge, in the form of a hollow silver anchor with an applied blue enamel curved title scroll the reverse impressed with Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1915 and maker's details 'A.Bros' (Ahronsberg Brothers Birmingham). Good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no dents or distortions, some enamel loss, price reflects.
Length approx 38mm.
H.M.S. Protect Me was a civilian fishing vessel (whaler type) commissioned into the Royal Navy's auxiliary service during the First World War. The vessel was used as an armed patrol or minesweeping vessel under an Admiralty number 2263. It served in British Home waters as a coastal anti-submarine escort/patrol vessel from April 1915 to 1919.
